Recepie (recepie.online) is a free recipe-sharing website. It is run by Vlastevski, a private individual based in North Macedonia ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

We handle personal data under the Law on Personal Data Protection of North Macedonia and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The article references below are to the GDPR; the North Macedonia law has equivalent rules.
When you register we collect your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash; we cannot read them. We also record when you verified your email and when you accepted our Terms and this policy. We use this data to create and secure your account, let you log in, send account emails (email verification and password reset) and show your name next to what you post. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
A profile photo and a short bio, if you add them. Uploaded profile photos are resized and re-encoded, which removes embedded metadata such as camera location. We also store your light/dark mode preference. Legal basis: contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Recipes (title, description, ingredients, steps, times, servings, difficulty, categories, tags and photos or videos), reviews and star ratings, "I made this" entries (with an optional photo and note), and reports you submit about content. We also store your likes, saved recipes, collections and who you follow. Legal basis: contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
When someone likes or reviews your recipe or follows you, we store an in-app notification containing their name. We do not send these by email.
While you use the site, our server stores a session record containing your IP address, browser user agent, the time of your last activity and, if you are logged in, your user ID. Failed login attempts are counted per email address and IP address for a short time to block password-guessing. Our server and application may also write logs (including IP addresses) when errors occur. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f)).
When content is reported, we review the report and the reported content and may remove content or suspend accounts. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the community safe and lawful (Art. 6(1)(f)), and legal obligations where they apply (Art. 6(1)(c)).
What we don't do: we do not use analytics or advertising trackers, we do not show ads, we do not take payments, and we do not sell or rent your personal data.
We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work (login session, security, "remember me"). We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, so we don't ask for cookie consent. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the site:
The share buttons on recipe pages (Facebook, X/Twitter, WhatsApp) are plain links. Nothing is sent to those services unless you click one; after that, their own privacy policies apply.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example to a court or the police.
Some providers above (such as Google) may process data outside North Macedonia and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, recipes, reviews, "I made this" entries, likes, saves, collections, follows, reports you made, your notifications, and the files you uploaded. Reviews and other content on your recipes made by other people are deleted together with your recipes.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can ask to know, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you using the options above, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Recepie is not meant for anyone under 16. You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you believe a younger child has registered, contact us and we will delete the account.
We protect your data with hashed passwords, protection against cross-site request forgery, limits on repeated login and sign-up attempts, encrypted sessions, and restricted admin access. Uploaded photos are re-encoded to remove hidden metadata. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires.
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For important changes, we will also tell registered users by email or with a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
